Rabbit Ears Peak can be seen from the summit and is in the shape of Rabbit Ears. The peak is created by two large columns of basalt rock formations from the second volcanic episode. Road construction began in 1911 and was completed in 1917. The pass offers summer habitat for elk, mule deer, moose, black bear, and other mammals.
